Cracker Barrel Old Country Store Slidell

Today we honored my daughter service and sacrifice in the US Marine Corps. 16 years of service and counting. What a great place to end the morning with Brunch at Cracker Barrel!

Have you ever walked into Cracker Barrel and felt like you were walking into you grandmother’s old mountain style home? Well that’s exactly what this Cracker Barrel delivers. My Grandmother loves this location and for long time was a frequent customer while her health allowed it. This weekend we celebrated her 100th birthday and reached out to the location to let them know we were coming and why. They went above and beyond to accommodate us and her. All of the staff from top to bottom was spectacular making many drop in visits to wish her well and congratulate her. We had brought a few decorations that the staff helped put up visible for the entire restaurant to celebrate with her. The staff and all of the dining room joined in singing to her. It was by far the most amazing visit and one of many reasons we will come back as a family again and again. I want to give a special thank you to Tanya, Tawnya, and Sonja who were just over the top helping this day be special and are above and beyond every time we come in. You know your home when your waitress runs out the dining room to greet you the moment she sees you walk into the store front. What a very special Cracker Barrel this location is.

The experience was good besides how our order came out. I ordered the new fresh berry French toast bake and it came out looking nothing like the picture. It only had strawberries on it. So I asked the waitress for the rest of the toppings (whipped cream, blueberry, powdered sugar) and she came back with just powdered sugar and said "they" said they were out of blueberries. We also had the steak bites and eggs but the waitress came back and said they were out of steak bites. I told her why not suggest giving us a steak and volunteering to cut the steak? She later came back with the original order and said it was a lie (jokingly) and had steak bites. I shouldn't manage the kitchen and waitress on how to provide customer service. The waitress was very nice and easy to talk to

We eat at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store restaurants frequently. The Southern Style home-cooking type of food is hard to find anywhere else and we like being able to get breakfast all day. The service can be slow in some stores but was really good here, friendly and attentive. The country store section is also fun and well stocked with gifts and goods of all sorts. We also like being able to pay from our table, contact free.

I believe the sound level in all Cracker Barrels is excessive. But the staff and food at this Cracker Barrel were excellent. I had dinner 2x and breakfast once. The biscuits were always fresh, be sure to add the apple butter it's worth the extra $.50. I had the roast beef dinner which was melt in your mouth excellent. And I had the country fried steak & gravy which was fried crisp while the steak was till moist and tender. It was so good I hardly needed the gravy. And I had a traditional egg, hashbrowns, and bacon breakfast which were very good. I always have a hard time getting bacon cooked the way I like it, here it was crispy but not hard and crunching. Over all I highly recommend this Cracker Barrel location. Also, I stopped for the night with my RV, but had a personal need to stay a 2nd night. When I asked to stay again the manager had no problem with it, they got 2 more meals from me, good business decision; very considerate.

When you're traveling, you can ALWAYS count on CB for a fantastic meal. Side note: both ladies in our party also found a few things they had to have in the gift store! Great food and the chance to shop, a dream stop on the road!
